Bell Environmental Technician providing pest control inspection of a commercial officePest control is one of those professions where you never really stop learning.

That’s why this past Saturday, we were grateful that our technicians came together for a full day of pest control training and recertification. It was a chance to refresh the fundamentals, dig into the challenges our teams see in the field, share best practices, and learn from one another.

And yes, we’re did it on a Saturday.

There’s a good reason for that: our customers are too important for us to pull our technicians away from their regular service responsibilities.

Staying Fresh on the Fundamentals

Even experienced pest management professionals benefit from going back to the basics. Our training will cover important topics including pesticide safety, label reading and proper application, service documentation, client communication, and the biology, identification, and control of pests our technicians encounter every day.

That includes bed bugs, cockroaches, flies, rodents, stored-product pests, household pests, and other common pest challenges.

We’ll also spend time discussing what our technicians are seeing in the real world. What’s working? What are customers experiencing? What can one technician learn from something another technician encountered last week?

Those conversations matter.

Training That Helps Us Serve Customers Better

Continuing education isn’t just about maintaining licenses or earning recertification credits—although those requirements are important.

It’s about making sure the person who walks into a customer’s building has current information, understands the products and techniques available to them, documents what they find, communicates clearly, and can make good decisions based on the situation in front of them.

Our September program will provide continuing-education credit across multiple areas of professional pest management, including core pesticide safety, household and health-related pest management, public-health pest management, park and school pest control, and other professional pest-control categories.

Those requirements help establish a baseline. At Bell, we want the training to do more than check a box.

We want it to make us better.

Better Together

There’s another benefit to getting our technicians into the same room: camaraderie.

Our team spends most of its time out in the field, supporting customers throughout our service area. A training day gives everyone an opportunity to compare notes, ask questions, trade ideas, and strengthen the best practices that make the entire organization better.

A technician may walk in with a solution that has worked particularly well for one type of pest or one type of facility. Someone else may have encountered a challenge the rest of the group hasn’t seen yet. Some techs are better at communication and have tips to share. One tech’s car is organized like the Batmobile and he’s always ready to fight crime and pests. Getting those experiences and best practices into the room makes everyone stronger.

Above all, we want to thank our technicians for giving up part of their Saturday to do it.

Their willingness to keep learning, stay current, and share their experience is a big part of how Bell Environmental continues improving for the customers who count on us.

Because staying sharp isn’t something we do instead of serving our customers.

It’s part of how we serve you.
