The Bergen Record reported on our company’s lawsuit against a competitor that is using a variation of our name to fool consumers and take our customers.

Last week’s article, “A dog and bedbug show,” published on May 1, 2013, explained:

Bell Environmental is accusing a rival company of taking a bite out of its business by using a similar canine and name.

Bell Environmental Services Inc. says it has built a solid reputation over 50 years for “high quality and thorough” pest services, particularly those provided by Roscoe – a tri-color beagle. The dog’s ability to sniff out bedbugs has landed the company numerous contracts, not to mention appearances on “Good Morning America” and in The New York Times, and it has been feaured in TV ads, Bell Environmental says in a lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Newark.

Now a New York company is procuring customers by using a name – Bell Bed Bug Dogs – similar to the Fairfield comapny’s, the suit says. And the rival is providing bedbug extermination services with the aid of a sniffer dog, the suit says.

The suit wants the court to stop the New York company from using the name and a related website, and seeks damages.
