We do want to call back to a pest control appropriate portion of the Star Wars universe. One of the memorable details from our first viewing of Star Wars: A New Hope – from a long, long time ago in a theater not so far away was the briefing on how the Rebels needed to use the stolen Death Star plans to destroy the space station. At the mention of how the Rebel fighters would be need to hit the Death Star’s exhaust port, one pilot said it would be “impossible, even for a computer.” Luke Skywalker countered, “I used to bull’s-eye womp rats in my T-16 back home. They’re not much bigger than two meters.”

Turn on your hyperdrive and land on Tatooine in 2022. When the episode focuses on this desert planet, the infamous womp rat is menacing the other characters. We’ve seen and solved some big rat problems and been blogging about NYC’s rat problems for a decade, and even in the movies but never encountered a rat that’s 2-meters in length!

We won’t give away any more, but it was nice to see a character take the action we would have. And of course, because nothing on the internet can have universal agreement someone is taking the other side of how fearsome a foe or tricky a target a womp rat would be for a someone zipping through Beggar’s Canyon in a podracer or any other kid of landspeeder.
